Derby Rules: read these rules carefully as rule 1 is a major change from last year. These changes bring FBC into compliance with to Ohio Awana Grand Prix.
1. All entries must use the current Awana wheels and axles. Modification of the wheels is permitted, however the AWANA GRAND PRIX name must be visible on the sidewall of the wheels. The wheels must contact only the body of the entry and the bare axle, i.e. no bearings or bushings. No independently powered movable/motorized devices or parts are permitted on or inside the vehicle which enhances the cars speed. Starting devices are prohibited. All cars must be gravity driven. Final preparation and lubrication of the entry must be completed before the entry is submitted for inspection. No part of the car may protrude beyond the starting line of the race.

2. Cars raced in previous years or competitions are not eligible.

3. Clubbers must use ONLY the axles, wheels and wood supplies in the kit. Additional features (windshields, weights, decals, etc.) can be added.

4. Axles DO NOT have to be mounted in the slots provided.

5. The maximum allowable weight is 5 ounces.

6. The maximum length is 7 inches. The maximum width is 2 ¾ inches. The maximum height is 3 inches.

7. The chassis should not be lower than ¾ of an inch from the ground to avoid scraping on the lane strips.

8. EACH COMPETITOR WILL BE ASSIGNED A NUMBER THAT MUST BE PERMENTALY DISPLAYED ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THEIR CAR.

Failure to follow these rules will result in the disqualification of the car from Awana competition.

Children's Ministry--Key Ministry Training

The Children's Ministry--Key Ministry--Training Event has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 30th from 9:30-11:30.

It is open to the whole church and will cover the basics of hidden disabilities, techniques for managing behavior, dealing with emergencies, and communicating effectively with parents.

There will be no child care for this event.

I believe it will be held in the Children's Theater!! :) I guess look for signs posting the location....and perhaps postcards from Pastor Ed in the mail.

This Wednesday, December 16th, is our last AWANA before Christmas Break!

Join us PROMPTLY at 6:30 for a pizza party for all Clubbers and leaders!!
Cubbies bring fruit or veggies.
Sparks bring a dessert.
T&T Bring Drinks.

This Wednesday will be the LAST day to bring in items for our collection for Pastor Johnny and the Storehouse of God. We still need Wal Mart Gift Cards and New Toy donations.
We have been amazed by the generous outpouring of generosity towards this cause!!! Great job Clubbers!!!

Postponed Event

Children’s Ministries had scheduled a training event with Key Ministries on November 14 from 9:30 – 11:30, this has been postponed. We are trying to reschedule it for January.

Sorry for this inconvenience and short notice of this information.

Look for the rescheduled date in the near future as details are secured.

Children's Ministry--Key Ministry Training

Children’s Ministry is bringing in Key Ministries to do training with us. This event is to increase our awareness of hidden and special needs and is designed to give us tools to better engage children in ministry. This training is designed to give us resources that we can use for every child in our ministry. It is not designed to make us experts in handling our special needs children, but it is to give us practical methods that we can use in every ministry setting. Whether you are a large group facilitator or a small group leader; a Special Needs volunteer or working with an ADD or ADHD child, this event will be beneficial.

Who: All volunteers working with preschool and elementary aged children (open to everyone and anyone)

What: Training designed to help us better engage children in ministry environments

Where: Children’s Theater @ FBC

When: Saturday, November 14 at 9:30 – 11:30

Our 2009-2010 AWANA year at FBC is off to a GREAT Start!!! We had over 75 kids in attendance last Wednesday!!! WOW!!!

This year we are going to be ordering "Fun" T-Shirts for kids and parents that say "FBC AWANA" on the front, and the AWANA Bible verse on the back.

You can order these T-shirts for the next TWO weeks (September 16th and 23rd)

We are getting THREE colors.....Blue for the Cubbies....Red for the Sparks...and Green for the T&T.

There is not any kind of Cubbie, Sparkie, or T&T emblem on the t-shirts....the writing is exactly the same on all of them. So if you really want a different color (like your favorite color is BLUE and you are a T&T) that would be fine!!!

Parents.....we are ordering adult sizes.....you can get a t-shirt, too!!

The shirts will be $7 each, checks payable to FBC with "Awana t-shirt" in the memo line.

Pick up a form (if you don't already have one) at AWANA on Wednesday!!

Help, Help, Help!
Dave Hall our super Awana games leader is looking for four toss across games with or without bean bags. If you loan us your game just bring them to Awana next week!

Derby Up-Date:
The Awana Grad Prix is on and scheduled for Saturday February 28th. We have a work night scheduled for Friday February 13 at the Church. The car kits are 8 dollars and need to be ordered ahead of time. All information and order blanks are availed at the Awana table in the Children’s ministry atrium. We will not order the car kits until a significant number have been pre-purchased. Order yours today so your clubber can get started on their winner!

Pizza Party!
Awana will host a Christmas Pizza party NEXT WEEK, December 17. Awana will provide the pizza. We are asking PARENTS to bring the following items:
Cubbies- a drink to share (chilled 2 liter pop etc…)
Sparkies- veggies, fruit, or a bag of chips
T&T- a desert

Store Up Date
Thanks to the donations of many people, the second Awana store was a huge success. The purpose of the store is to reward those children who have memorized significant portions of the Bible. There were many clubbers who had over 100 Awana shares to spend! Special thanks go out to Matt and Christine Davidson who are in charge of the store this year.

There will be no Awana Dec 24th and Dec. 31.

Awana will resume January 7th with Favorite Hat Night.

A GREAT Start to AWANA!!

Our 2008-2009 Year of AWANA started GREAT!! We had 77 kids in attendance!! WOW!!!

We have had a number of people ask if AWANA will be taking place this Wednesday, September 17, because of the school closings, due to power outages.

YES!!! We are having AWANA....so plan to be there!!!

AWANA is only cancelled if Kenston is closed do to snow. Always check our blog, or call FBC.
